Menopause is more than just hot flushes

Menopause is about much more than hot flushes. I take a whole-person approach to care, looking at how you feel today and at your long-term health, including your heart, bones, and brain.

Why I do this

I saw what changed when someone finally listened.

As a GP trainee, I worked in a hospital-based menopause clinic. Week after week, I saw women who had been struggling for a long time. Many of them felt better supported just by being listened to and having their symptoms taken seriously.

I saw how the way research is communicated can shape care. After a widely publicised study in 2002, many doctors became cautious about menopause treatment, and for many years women didn't always get the full picture they needed to make an informed choice. Every woman deserves clear, balanced information about her options so she can decide what is right for her.

I want every woman who walks in to leave feeling she was taken seriously.
