Care that looks at all of you.
Longer appointments with Dr Alex Maughan (FRACGP, MRCGP, MBChB), a GP who focuses on perimenopause and menopause. Your first visit includes a comprehensive nurse assessment and a 30-minute consultation, so we can look at your symptoms and long-term health and plan your care together.
Is this for you?
Your symptoms today. Your health for the years ahead.
Menopause is about more than hot flushes. Your care looks at how you feel now and at your long-term health.
What it costs, upfront.
Your first two appointments are in person at Morayfield. Each starts with a 30-minute nurse assessment, followed by 30 minutes with Dr Alex. After that, follow-ups can be in person or by telehealth.

Do I need a referral?
No referral required. Book through HotDoc or phone 07 5322 4900 to make an appointment.
Why are the first two appointments in person?
An extended nurse appointment, followed by a doctor consultation, allows us to take observations and, where clinically appropriate, arrange an ECG or an ankle brachial index (a test to check blood flow in your arteries) to help assess your cardiovascular risk. After that, follow-ups can be in person or by telehealth.
I'm only 38. Could it really be perimenopause?
Yes. Perimenopause can begin in the late 30s, and it's often missed because the changes start small.
What should I bring?
Any recent blood test results, a list of your medicines and supplements, and notes on your periods and symptoms if you have them.
Is it awkward to talk about vaginal or bladder symptoms?
Not here. They're some of the most common menopause symptoms, and some of the most treatable.
